In a city without proper public transportation like Jakarta, I think it is normal to drive our own vehicle, especially us who have to drive 10-30 km per day from home to office. Of course, if this model multiplied by hundred thousand or several million of people, the street will be very crowded. Well actually things won’t get worse if each of the driver behave nicely.
Few days ago I read an article from a newspaper that there was a bad traffic jam because of unethical bikers flooding both side of the street, so vehicles just couldn’t move for at least hours, and I was sure they would be late for office.
I think it is important to form a movement to repair our way of driving, let’s call it “Ethical Biker”. So with this movement, each driver should follow golden rules, that bring influences to people around them. Remember, if there is no leader, there is no follower. Once a person breaks the traffic, others will follow.
There are things that we need to clarify when we are driving. We are connected each other, much tighter than we thought. A simple accident can lead to huge traffic jam, and unexpected extraordinary forces can lead to chaos, just like those “pak ogah” do.
